JANUARY 2004
- Our holiday season was full and busy this year. We first went to Lawton, OK to celebrate
with Granny & Papa (Nina’s parents). We had a delicious traditional dinner with turkey and
ham and fixings, opened gifts, and spent some time visiting and relaxing. Incidentally, we
were also taking a cat to Lawton to be adopted by one of Rick’s friends, but we fell in love
with her and ended up taking her back to Fort Worth. Her name is Misty and she is 7 years old.
Rick’s friend will have to wait for a less sweet kitty. After Christmas in Lawton, we were
back in Fort Worth for 3 days then traveled to Stillwater, OK to visit Nathan’s family.
Nathan’s 2 brothers and wives and 2 children from each family made for a very energy-filled day.
We enjoyed another delicious traditional meal and watched as all the toys were assembled and
played with. We also got together with friends Bryan, who was home for the holidays between
assignments in North Korea and Iraq, and friends Jonathan and Kahle, who recently became engaged.
We did not adopt any new cats on that trip. Approximately one hour after we arrived back in
Fort Worth from that trip, people began arriving at our house from Rick’s side of the family.
We ended up with 15 people, 1 dog, and 4 cats in the house. The windows were open, and the
fans were on, at the end of December! We had non-traditional steak and lasagna dinners,
played a large billiards tournament, and had a gift exchange. Approximately one hour after
everyone left, we were asleep, preparing for work the next day. It was very busy but a whole
lot of fun!
